Beaufort Hunt raises £1,500 for charity

The West’s biggest foxhunt has held its annual charity ride, with funds raised this year for a centre that helps adults and children.

Followers of the Beaufort Hunt met at Hundred Acre Farm in Sopworth, Wiltshire, last week and raised more than £1,500 for the Rainbow Centre.

The Hampshire-based charity helps children with cerebral palsy, adults with multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease, and people recovering from strokes, learn to overcome their motor impairment.

"The centre uses a system developed at the world-famous Peto Institute in Hungary, called Conductive Education," explained Beaufort Hunt spokeswoman Jo Aldridge. "It becomes a way of life – it is not a cure but can greatly improve confidence, independence and quality of life."

"Over the years, the charity meet has raised many, thousands of pounds for national and local charities," she added. "After less than 30 minutes of bucket-rattling, the Beaufort Hunt supporters had dug deep and raised a total of £1,547."
